General Electrical Engineering Kontent
This YouTube channel was made as an outlet to help students and the general public fill in gaps in Electronics Engineering as well as a few other electronics type projects.
WBG Semiconductor Testing Facility
Led the development of a cutting-edge Wide Bandgap (WBG) semiconductor testing facility, pushing the boundaries of power electronics reliability analysis. Designed and implemented advanced test stands for devices up to 15 kV, including HTRB, HTGB, HTOL, and innovative dv/dt testing solutions. Created custom FPGA-based control systems and specialized PCBs, showcasing expertise in embedded design and high-voltage electronics. This project revolutionized WBG device characterization, providing crucial services to manufacturers and accelerating the adoption of efficient power electronics across industries.
Key features: 15 kV testing, custom FPGA solutions, advanced PCB design, industry-leading dv/dt capabilities.
High B-Field Low Inductance COMSOL Study and Coil Design
This project was done as a contractor to a local company to research and design a cutting edge high magnetic field coil while reducing inductance as much as possible. With this design a very sharp edged high energy magnetic pulse was created to research its effects on different materials.
Github Accounts
Linked below are three different github accounts. Two accounts are direct connections to Joshua's repositories, private and work, and one is the overall account that Joshua manages and interacts with for collaborative coding on the job.
High Density Network Rebuild Project
In order to move forward with two ARPA-E projects, the network infrastructure needed to be rebuilt. This project covers the proposal and final build of this project. The requirements were to be able to handle greater than 100 WiFi IOT devices as well as all normal network traffic in a relatively small space. In addition to supporting these devices, infrastructure needed to increase the future availability of research and development in the energy management space including software and hardware R&D across multiple buildings and and geographically separate networks.
Nano Second Wide Bandgap Pulser
Nano second wide bandgap pulser built in preparation for development of a single stage of a High Power Wide Bandgap (WBG) nanosecond pulse generator. This pule generator was built to test SiC and GaN WBG devices for their ultimate use in a larger pulse generator. The test also allowed specifying parts, tools, and design options for the final generator. This project was funded via Texas Tech University Spark Fund
Mars Automated Environmental Regulation
This automated environmental regulation project was integrated as a research venture at Mars Desert Research Station in Utah. A team of Mclennan Community College students applied with various research projects to build a crew to participate in this innovative space!
A Progressive-Response Algorithm for Improving Player Skill in Connect Four
The game Connect Four has been studied since its inception by Milton Bradley in 1974; however, the problem of responding appropriately to a player’s skill in an artificial intelligence environment has not been specifically addressed. In this paper we describe the Connect Four problem, as well as known solutions and strategies. We then provide details on a recursive algorithm which, over time, responds to a player’s individual skill level and allows for a game play that is sufficiently challenging yet not entirely overwhelming. The purpose of this algorithm is to allow players to build their skills over time and to ultimately become more competitive. We provide and evaluate results from a test of the data and then provide opportunities for future research.
